I would like to see some sets of Korean War soldiers and vehicles. This would be something completely new. Many UN forces to utilize, Chinese, Korean as well. Frozen Chosin Marines and foes..My money is burning for something different..

I'm in.

There's nothing like jungle helmet covers on top of frozen Marines in overcoats!

The article doesn't actually say that the figures will be K & C but merely says that "History Kingdom plans to launch a collection commemorating the Korean War within the next year. This collection will be sold exclusively in Korea."

However, assuming that they, in fact, will be K & C figures, this is just another example of Andy changing his mind from "never" to "Well, I guess I will." :D

See - we are now back to the SEMINOLES ! :D

Ron,

Since he may be doing Korea for the Korean dealer, how about getting Tim or Bill involved as Florida dealers?

A very big yes from me as this series would be great.Simmo

From the US Forces side of the war, how much difference would there be in terms of uniforms, equipment and vehicles when compared to some of the late WWII stuff. For instance, the Chaffee, M3 Halftrack, and BOB figures.

Would there be much difference?

Don't know what BOB is.

Some differences I am aware of is that a) the Thompson is gone, replaced by the Grease Gun b) for Brits the PIAT would be replaced by the Bazooka c) US Army has a new type of helmet cover (as seen in movie Pork Chop Hill) d) USMC tanks & vehicles are not olive drab, but a gloss or semigloss Marine Green (it's like a bronze green); it's hard to tell from pics & video which gloss level it was

All in all, it would be a great new series to collect. Frozen Chosin Marines in action poses, hand to hand fighting with Chinese...count me in

Korean War heroics gives rise to another episode not well known in America, the stand of the Glosters. Plus you could work in the beeeooootiful Centurion Mk.III with that 20 pounder gun. I'd recommend that Americans take a look into the Glosters. Who knows, with enough interest, maybe a KW FOB can become a reality someday

Thanks for that. (By BOB, I meant Battle of the Bulge figures, but on reflection, it is a bit ambiguous )

I'd not thought of the vehicle paint, but now you mention it, I know what you mean.

And, a Centurian would be pretty cool (I think Bernard might be interested in that as well)

Cheers

Now that you mention it, I have had my Iwo Jima Marines sitting in boxes for two years now waiting for a K&C Pershing to be released. Mine will be getting repainted for Inchon.

Cool! Perhaps a dragons mouth on a Chaffee to tide over until K&C decide to do a Pershing?

Never thought of that. Marines did't use those, but doesn't mean my platoon didn't appropriate one from somewhere! heh heh

Hi Guys,

Re K&C producing a few Korean War figures for our distributor in South Korea…

A few figures do not always turn into a complete range… Joan of Arc and two Franco Prussian Figures have not resulted in K&C producing a whole new range of Medieval 14th.Century Knights or the Franco Prussian War.

Now, yes I do know we’ve done (and are doing) the Crimean War for K&C UK but that’s a whole different ball game and a whole lot more “dosh” of an investment (for K&C UK). So far, we’re only looking at 3 figures for Korea… not even 3 sets.

As for K&C HK we still don’t have any plans to produce a whole new Korean War range. Therefore my denials still stand too… sigh!

Love ‘n’ kisses,
Andy C.

Andy,

I can't say I would be interested in a Korean range but would be interested in having a couple of figures just because it's something different. Will these be available through you or do you have to go through the Korean site which, unfortunately for English speakers, only looks to be in Korean.

Cheers,

Wouldn't the stand of the Glousters be brilliant Mister Blow..??
As for the thought of a Centurion MkIII - think I'll have to go and sit down....sigh!
Personally, I don't care which of the 1/30-scale manufacturers bring out a KW range. K&C, Figarti (I think their's is 1/32, but need to check), or anyone else can do it. Like I say, I don't care, but I MUST HAVE.....
I'd love to see a MASH scenario complete with causualty jeep, medic tent, medi-vac chopper, and another scenario that springs to mind is Hot Lips herself.....caught in the shower.
Yet another one I've been toying with the idea of doing myself, is toward the end of The Bridges at Toko-Ri movie with a downed aircraft, (maybe a Sabre so as not to infringe intellectual copyright), and a pilot in a drainage ditch fighting off the North Koreans/Red Chinese.

Cheers :)

I forgive you this time, but you can make good by giving me an Eva & Inge rubbing sun tan lotion on each other for the Berghof balcony

One could create a bit of a Korean War range from some existing figures that have been produced by K&C. The M24 Chaffee is still available and is quite appropriate for the early actions. The M16 halftrack (DD35) was used in Korea. The GMC truck (DD40) was still the standard cargo truck, WW2 jeeps were still in use. The old DD27 Sherman is CLOSE to a Korean War Sherman. USMC uniforms didn't change much from WW2 to Korea, nor did the Army uniforms from late WW2. Remember that although one thinks of the troops in the cold Korean winter, much of the combat was in warmer weather, so fatigues (Army) or Utilities (Marines) would be appropriate. The Figarti "Long Tom" would work, also. Lots of repainting and changing of details, but a modest display can be done. Can't help with the Centurion Mk III though!
