Does anyone have information about Kurt Stackhouse. I have a few metal figures on wooden bases that are signed by him also with his initials KHS. I thought the quality was very good but dont have any information about him - did he paint custom - did he also sculpt and put out his own range?

Thanks for any info!

From Garratt's "World Encyclopedia of Model Soldiers":

Kurt Stackhouse, New York. A free-lance designer of solids, especially for Cavalier and Old Guard, and a professional figure-painter.

I had forgotten that he designed any figures, let alone that he did for Cavalier and Old Guard. That makes sense, though, since they were all local to each other in the NYC area.
I have only seen Stadden figures that he painted, and I think he painted more of those than of any other brand. Also, as far as I knew, he painted out his signature under the base on his figures. But that only means that's all that I have seen. I don't recall having seen any that just had his initials.
As far as the quality goes, it's very much of his time in the 60s and early 70s, but that's not to criticize his style negatively. Just that it's of it's time. The styles are different today, and modern collectors probably wouldn't even give his figures a second look.

Hope that helps!
Prost!
