Pool's Sherman "In the Mood"

Great article. Thanks for posting it. I have heard about the connection to "The Tanks are Coming" somewhere before but have no idea where.:redface2: A remarkable tanker. -- Al

That was fun to read especially since I trained in Pool Hall at Knox. Thanks for posting!

Pool is the reason that I repainted and relettered my Figarti M4A1 as "In The Mood". Pool and others didn't get as much recognition as soldiers from a certain Axis power as the US Army didn't recognize "tank aces". Each man was regarded as part of a crew and the crew was supposed to do their job. Pool's story is fascinating however. He must have been one heck of a guy!

In 1/35th there is a resin figure from Yoshi, marketed through Chesapeake Model Designs that is based on Pool.

Since Pool commanded several different Shermans, I don't know if one of them is the same model as CS's Sherman, but it would be great if the CS Sherman is the same as one of Pool's Shermans (but I doubt it). If CS would release a Pool repaint Sherman, I sure would buy one.

Sorry, but the only CS Sherman that I am aware of is an M4A3E8. These did NOT reach the ETOUSA until well after Pool had been wounded and crippled. Pool used an M4 named "In the Mood" and after that was knocked out he received an M4A1 with 76mm gun, also named "In the Mood" (Should have been in "In the Mood II"). After that was KO'd in a US air strike he received another M4A1 with 76mm gun )"In The Mood III"). This last Sherman was the one in the few photos of Pool and his crew and the one Poll was riding when he was wounded.

The only available M4A1 76mm Wet Stowage that I am aware of in 1/30th was made by Honour Bound. Wm Britain has done a mediocre version in 1/32nd. There are multiple model kits of that type of Sherman in 1/35th, 1/48th and 1/72nd scales.

For trivia the registration number of "In The Mood" was USA 3070629, the tank number was "I-34"

BINER001:

Thanks for the info. That's what I feared...too bad, none of the companies have released a Pool ShermanBut most people aren't aware of Pool to begin with.
I think a Pool Sherman would sell very well if one was released.
