Last formation of the 506 (1 Viewer)

Well, Chris, you and all veterans of the 506th and its descendant formations can be proud of your unit history, though. Keep it alive, brother!

Hey Chris, I'm curious. I think there are ten airborne regts (of varying sizes though), can you nominate for a particular one that you want to join or are you just posted as the army needs you?

Always sad to see units with proud histories disbanded.

You can always make requests but ultimately you are sent where the Department of the Army wants you. I wanted to go to the 10th Mountain after my time with the 506 but no dice. Go figure :smile2:

Typical of our Army today. I am sad to say that there seems to be no rhyme or reason to how they select units for the dustbin of history. I do sympathise though because a lot of us felt the same when they inactivated the 2nd Armored Division. While they kept some of the units around it still stung to see the Division go away.

Chris, deepest respects to you and your service mate and to all those who went before you. It was their service along with millions of others that helped keep us free from that loathsome, detestable racist filth that wanted to infect the world with hatred. God bless them all. They may now be gone as a unit but will not be forgotten mate.
