Operation Abeline,,my first as an FNG w the !st div,,was like most, unknown except in the history of the division RVN,,The 16th Inf and my own 18th were the elements of the 2nd brigade involved with others,,the 16th was always involved,,hard fought since D Day,,I was aware those days of that action involving the 16th but until this story didn't know the details,,

The true story of Vietnam War hero William H. Pitsenbarger(Jeremy Irvine), a U.S. Air Force Pararescuemen (also known as a PJ) whopersonally saved over sixty men. During a rescue mission on April 11, 1966, hewas offered the chance to escape on the last helicopter out of a combat zoneheavily under fire, but he stayed behind to save and defend the lives ofsoldiers of the U.S. Army's 1st Infantry Division, before making the ultimatesacrifice in one of the bloodiest battles of the war.
