Who was the last survivor of the garrison at Rorke's Drift? How old was he and what was his rank?

Hi Tommy,

Lieutenant Colonel Frank Bourne DCM Died 1945 ?Age.

He lived to see the War in Europe end and died on VE Day (that is how I remember it).

There was a write up in last years Standard of Ian Knight presenting a figure to the great grandson of Bourne.
 
Correct. What was the name of the fort built after the battle?

Tommy the fort was initially known to the men as Fort Revenge for Isandlwana but Lord Chelmsford was uncomfortable with it's association and the name was changed to Fort Melvill after Lieutenant Melvill who was killed attempting to save the Queens Colours.....The Lt.
