Lieutenant Colonel Frank Bourne DCM Died 1945 ?Age.

He lived to see the War in Europe end and died on VE Day (that is how I remember it).

Scott,

Bourne was more fortunate than Chard and Bromhead.

Chard died of Cancer of the Tongue in the late 1800's.

Bromhead died of Typhoid in Hyderabad, India also thereabouts.

Both were still single and in their 40's at time of death, if I recall correctly.

Tommy the fort was initially known to the men as Fort Revenge for Isandlwana but Lord Chelmsford was uncomfortable with it's association and the name was changed to Fort Melvill after Lieutenant Melvill who was killed attempting to save the Queens Colours.....The Lt.
