They announced a Royal Commission into her handling by Victorian police.

Australian forum members will be aware of this story but those overseas might be interested in this incredible true crime story that is going to be turned into a TV series.

In summary :

Arrested and released for a serious drugs case before graduated from University.

2 years later after becoming a solicitor (then barrister) she starts informing on clients to police.

During the time she was informing there was a very serious crime war in Melbourne with high profile murders, some in public places. Huge pressure on police. I think Netflix may have the first Underbelly series which covers this.

She represented many of the top crime figures. After discussions with them would inform police of details including defence legal strategies.

Was sleeping with drug cop (later investigated in connection with a murder and she attempted to gather info on him) and drug traffickers (father of one of her children).

Informed on clients over a period of 14 years and many serious criminals cases may have been tainted by her activities. Saw a figure of her giving over 5,000 pieces of info to police.

Also believed to have tipped off criminals about police action.

Her police handlers were very senior officers and two recent Commissioners involved. Received nearly $3 million from police.

A few of the criminals suspected her.

A newspaper was onto the story in 2014 but Police sought to suppress the story in multiple court hearings until Court ruled recently that she could be named. She is from a very well known legal family.

A Royal Commission has been set up to look into the police handling and the impact on major criminals serving long sentences.

5 others in the legal world also gave police info.

There are many articles on this online but the one below is a good summary.

In Hong Kong I remember legal clerks being informers (some were criminals themselves) but not even close to this level of informing.
