Here are some photos of an LCAT coming into the port of Kawaihae on the west coast of The Big Island(Hawaii). Unfortunately it was only engineering vehicles on board. I was hoping for Strykers. Oahu based army and marine units train over here on a regular basis at Pohakuloa Training Area.

Larry:

I keep forgetting your living in paradise! Do you by any chance surf?

If you ever get the chance I would love to see a couple of photos of

Waimea Bay, or the Pipeline.

I used to be a big fan of Greg Noll, as a matter of fact my first board was

a Greg Noll purchased in Beach Haven N.J. in 1965.:D

No, I am not a surfer. Next time I go to Oahu I will get some ohots of Waimea Bay and other spots there. Lot of surfing spots on the big island but none as good as on Oahu.

Larry:

That would be cool, if its not to much trouble! You are living in Surf

Paradise! Greg Noll, Dewey Weber and the gang were 5 years older then I

was, and they started the surfing craze on the East Coast when they began

mass producing boards in their fathers garages.

It was a great time to be a young guy at the beach! I graduated H.S. in

1967, my car was a 1961 Corvette with a 1964 fuel injected vette engine...

now those were the days!
