Hi All,

I finally fixed up these two figures. Vintage castings but looking very good. For the Aide de camp, I added putty to the legs to improve the pose.

I was able to get to these figures after doing a massive clearout of both my workplaces.
One for drilling and sculpting, filing which creates dust, and another for glueing and painting the figures.
Hence with this reorganisation, I am now fixing up a lot of the gray figures and getting them ready to join my figure collection.

One of the consequences of clearout means that a lot of old boxes have to be thrown out to create storage space. Many of the boxes are also covered in dust.
No sentimentalities - many of my unmade figures are now in clear plastic bags neatly labelled.

Hi Mirof,

Thanks. This figure was obviously sculpted with a light beige nankeen (cotton) pelisse and there is an example of this figure in my Knotel book.
The fantaissan costume was knocked up during the Egyptian campaign to replace worn out uniforms.
I'm still looking for other coloured examples of similar costumes, most likely worn by other ADCs, in their capacity and need to distinguish themselves.

The "ADC" is Jean-Baptiste Antoine Marcellin Marbot. I have 2 versions of this one and the Lasalle too (below pics). I had the chance to acquire all the Le Cimier Nap staff and marshals sets at Le Drapeaux de France in Paris nearly 20 years ago when they were still cheap to buy  I actually went also to the Le Cimier store before they unfortunately went out of business (bought many prints from Charles Conrad there).

Hi Grognard,

A true connoisseur!! Some of those Le Cimier figures are gems! I managed to acquire these two figures at eBay some years back at reasonable prices.

That Le Drapeaux shop is amazing!

Please remember, all the Le Cimier molds are now in the hands of Métal Modèles

I also have the standing figure of Colonel Pully, but am thinking of cutting off his legs and placing him on a horse.
Similar thoughts on Metal Modeles figures of General Dumas and Eugene Beauharnais. These figures should be mounted. These three figures are on my cleaned-up work bench.

For Marbot, as I could not find an alternative paint scheme, I have decided to follow the beige uniform.

Buoyed by my completion of Murat's breeches, I took out LaSalle's considerable breeches to work upon.

Sideways, this figure looks emaciated. I decided to add some bulk to his butt to improve things. So I took a reference shot and then resculpted the back.

Victor,

I've just finished another figure of Lasalle, this time mounted.

Here he is with Murat, both are ROSE Miniatures, PAX101 & 100, supplied by John Eden.

Hope you like them,

Another terrific job well done John. Thanks for sharing this with us.

Cheers,

Beautiful figures, John! I love the gilt on these dandies! The old Rose figures had a certain quiet elegance about them and I used to admire them on the back pages of good old Airfix mag... The best was their Ramses on an Egyptian chariot. I finally bought one chariot kit from Irregular Miniatures and am now building my own.

Here is La Salle with a more emphatic butt.

Hi John,

I do need to get a life, don't I?....:):):)

Rgds Victor

You have a life ..... a painter of military miniatures, and the good news is that you are not the only one in the world, I'm here too :)

AND we have the whole world, well at least these guys in the Forum, seeing our work ..... how good is that ????

We can't have everyone coming to see our collections, so the Forum is our way of sharing .. and giving and receiving comments that keep us going :)
I hope to catch up again with you when I'm next in S'pore, so keep on painting .....

regards,
John
