Another Café Storme pair. First King of the Belgians and his second wife.

Starting to paint her dress. Shading with Payne's Grey and highlighting with white.

Painted the bases black and mounted both figures onto a wooden stand.

I finished the painting on this piece. Added gold braid to Leopold and covered Louise Marie's dress with iridescent white to represent silk.

Excellent !

Your 'whites' are still some of the best I have seen...amazing.

Thank you.

Hello Ivanhoe,

Thanks for your very kind comments. Really, it was quite easy to brush the iridescent paint on.

I touched up the Louis-Marie figure, hair shoulders and dress. I also improved the breecheson Leopold I. I will wait for the paint to dry before I try to improve Leopold I further For eg, I really think both his hands are gross and the hat is underscale. So Iwill probably try to substitute these. He also has a lot of medals and decorations in his official portrait.

Hello Mirof,

Thank you for that picture of Louis-Marie.

This couple seems to have been sculpted by two different persons. The lady is very good but Leopold is rather awkward.

I snipped off his hands and removed the hat. Also removed the teeny scabbard. Added hair to Leopold.

Starting to detail Leopold. The right hand has been added. The sword too. I built up the coat skirts. The hat and left hand is being sculpted.

The left arm and hat were attached to the figure. The medals and sash ribbon were added.

I've completed this piece. I think it is a great improvement especially on the Leopold figure. Sometimes, additional accessories and details help to make a bland figure pose more interesting, such as the sword, belt, hat and medals. Notice the repainted sash.
