Thanks for posting this Neil, it might've been missed by the media down here. I remember The Professionals very fondly. I used to watch it on Saturday nights with my dad. Loved the theme tune (I played it to a class today) and the tough guy action.
I've read today that Collins auditioned for the James Bond role in the 80s but was thought to be too brutal or something. Funny that that's why Daniel Craig seems to be doing so well today. I'm not sure if Collins had the overall package to pull that role off but he would've been better than a few of the others who got it. I see he also tried to join 23 SAS and actually passed the physical! Seems he got knocked back for being too small? Full credit to him anyway. Also for being married to the same woman the whole time! Seems he only had modest roles after The Professionals playing tough guys of one sort or another.
