Hi all! Here is a chance to pick up a nice King & Country set and do some good at the same time.

Tomorrow Saturday, February 10th there will be a benefit for a family we know here in Eyota. While we doubt any of you can make it to the chili feed or the dance;) we wanted to let you know that a BBA12 Enemy in Sight set will be auctioned off as part of the benefit.

We doubt the locals will have any idea of the value of a set of King & Country, although it is listed with it's $79 value because toy soldier collecting is relatively unknown here in SE Minneota. Because of this we thought it might be a good idea to let you all know about the auction and if any of you would like to place a bid you can let us know and we'll make sure someone bids for you. We are a bit afraid it won't go for more than $20 and that won't do much to help pay Tom's medical bills.

Here is the announcement they put in the local newspaper this week:

On November 10, 2006 Tom was involved in a a very serious pedestrian/vehicle accident and suffereed severe injuries. He was hit by a truck while acting as a good samaritan and directing traffic during a snow storm. He was hospitalized for 35 days and treated for a traumatic brain injury, blood clots, fractured facial bones, a broken collar bone and broken leg. As a result Tom has been unable to work and the benefit is to assist with the financial hardship.
For more info on Tom go to www.caringbridge.org/visit/thomaswelsh

There is no minimum bid that I know of so if anyone has any sort of a bid please let us know asap and we'll make sure it gets taken to the benefit. If you have the winning bid we will pay for the set and you can then pay us.

Thanks very much!

shannon,

i'll do you one better than that, keep the set (or whatever), i'm not a king & country collector as of yet, more of a conte collector,

so i set forth a challenge to all collectors, let our conscience decide,

give up a set or a figure this year,

my opening bid $80.00 U.S.

let me know your paypal deetails and i will send you payment immediately so you can forward on the money.

its for a good cause

ok, i had better clarify my post just in case............................

i'm not bidding on the item, the $80.00 is just a donation to help the family out,

the challenge to collectors was simply give what you can if your so willing,

sorry if i caused any confusion.

Three more collectors besides chenko123 have contacted us about donations for Tom and his family. You guys are awesome and I thank you all!
I guess I don't care now if the figure set goes for $1.93, with your donations the goal of raising some money for them is being reached.

If you do have a bid for the figure set let me know. So far I have no outside bids.

I sure am looking forward to letting Tom and his family know about your generosity.

Thanks again,

I have a bid for $75. We will take the highest bid and a check for all the donations to the auction this evening.

Thank you all again!
