Lifetime is airing an original movie this weekend on the Lizzie Borden case. Starring Christina Ricci. I'm sure it will be the typical melodramatic TV-movie, but the case is still interesting. I'm not sure they can top the Elizabeth Montgomery movie from the 70's, though, which was a classic. They did a decent job recently with Bonnie and Clyde.

This is on now.I just came home and turned it on and what do I here but modern music. They do that a lot now and I really don't care for it.

Not only was it modern, but it was loud and bad. I switched channels and never went back.:wink2: -- Al

I recorded it but it's on the bottem of the pile to watch.

That movie is a big buzz here in Fall River where it all went down. I,m 5 minute from that house on second street. I have it on the DVR but I haven,t watched it yet. My old lady went on one of those crazy ghost hunt things in the house last year. The house is now a bed and breakfast.

I liked the modern music used in "Marie Antoinette." Anyone ever see the Elizabeth Montgomery version of Lizzie Borden? Very creepy for 70's broadcast TV.

Yes I remember it.

I got around to watching it and much to my surprise it was quite good. Or at least very entertaining. Ricci has quite a presence and she plays the role nicely with a kind of eerie no one is home look in her eyes. I even enjoyed the music which lent a kind of energy that contrasted with the formal manners of the time. Did they play fast and loose with many of the historical facts? Yes. But it is a "Lifetime" movie. They hit most of the major themes and myths about the case. Having visited the site of the murders and spent the night both in Lizzie's room and Maplecroft, I found most of the historical errors more amusing than annoying. Many seemed intentional to move the story along. The purists will be outraged, but it made for an entertaining TV movie.
