My wife and I are traveling to London (and Bath), Amsterdam and Paris soon. I'm trying to find King and Country stores in the area. I see the King and Country authorized dealers shows one UK dealer (not close to London) and a single shop in Paris. Are there any shops not listed I should check out?

Sorry if this belongs in a different forum.

Hi, when in London you should check the Tradition of London shop:
Tradition of London
5a, Shepherd Street. Mayfair, London W1J 7HW. England
Telephone +44 (0) 20 7493 7452 Fax +44 (0) 20 7355 1224
Email shop@traditionoflondon.com Website www.traditionoflondon.com

It's close to Hyde Park and Green Park. They do sell K&C and had lots of items the last time I checked.

Fine print: for us Americans, remember that everything is more expensive in Europe due to the exchange rate USD/Euro andr USD/GBP. That said in France at least you can get the tax back (~20%) if you spend up to a certain amount. So if you find something you like and you cannot find in the US this is still worth it and it's good to know anyway. Just ask the clerk. I benefited from the detax many times and saved a bunch when traveling in France. Normally the store has the form to claim the refund at the airport especially in Paris' stores. One of my favorite TS stores is near the Louvre/Palais Royal: www.drapeaux-de-france.net They don't carry K&C but it's worth the visit if you like Naps (note that their Web site is a very poor representation of their selection IMHO). I will be in France in 2 weeks and again in May and will spend some time in Paris :smile2:

PS: I can send you my personnal Rick Steve's like list of what to see and where to stay/eat in Paris (I lived and worked 10 years in the City of lights). Just PM me if you are interested.

Bon voyage !

Thanks guys!

I plan on picking up a few Souvenirs and expect them to be more costly there. But I can point at them at home and say "I got that in London or Paris."

I'm not sure, but I think that the National Army Museum (Royal Hospital Road, Chelsea, London, SW3 4HT) have a selection of K&C?

When visting Amsterdam there is a nice K&C shop in Purmerend:

Modelplaza
Nijverheidsweg 5-7
1442 LD Purmerend

www.modelplaza.nl

It's worth to visit this excellent shop, i often buy some K&C stuff over there.

Bon voyage.

Morning all,

Just found this forum after being recommended by a collector friend. Has anyone discovered The Armoury in Piccadilly arcade? Quite near tradition and the Guards model centre, but they have a good mix of K&C, Britains and Russian bits, as well as a huge selection of military antiques.

Website here: www.armoury.co.uk

Also I was in Hamleys and they no longer stock K&C, and have a pretty miserable set of Britains figures. It's not what it used to be in there.

All the best,

Jack

Morning Jack and a warm welcome to the forum, yes I've been in there once or twice, nice shop.

Must say as a regular visitor to London I rarely buy from a shop up there, no offence meant to anyone but you often pay five or six pounds more than online or from your own dealer, just not worth it for me, however if you are visiting London as a one off I can understand the souvenir issue.

Jack,

I always visit this shop when in London, but only to view the range of figures, but its well worth a look around, as you could fine something you haven't seen before.

By the way 3 times in London in 12 years is a "regular visit" to me :) :)

Hi everyone ,
I am also traveling to Amsterdam in may and while there appears to be little in the way of shops in amsterdam , short of the one Mark recommended , is there any within a day trip to Germany or the general area ?

As I don't own any flats that would be perfect or something that's manufactured there that's maybe not as easy to get in the states .

I have a few personal days so I can devote a full day to this ( three hour train each way ) and would like to find something of high quality .

Thanks Chuck
