London Symposium: A Night in the Blue Boar Inn, Circa 1300 (1 Viewer)

On our second to last night in Britain, Howard, Jenny and I stayed at the historic Blue Boar Inn, the oldest portion of which was constructed circa 1300 as a local landowner's hunting lodge. Outside it was a combination brick and Tudor style building, while inside, the furnishings were all antiques, and the walls were covered with period paintings, prints, and even a needlepoint of the Kings Color and the Regimental Color of the Oxford Light Infantry with an early daggeurotype of the family member in the regiment. While sitting having breakfast an elderly local squire struck up a conversation with me, informing me that, as a Yank, I must visit the church across the street, as George Washington's ancestors were buried there (he also told me about racing Bently 4.5's on the track at Snetterton Heath, the airfield from which my Uncle Joe flew in WW1, about a 92 year old local who served in the Chindits in Burma, and about the merits of the Rolls Royce Armored Car). Here are a couple of photos of the historic church in Maldon and an adjacent sign:

Louis, from the look of the first photo the beer must have been good.
 
I wouldn't know about the beer, but the scotch was excellent . . . ^&grin

It was good to have another drinker of shorts with us Louis, normally its just me and Bob representing the short with ice brigade:salute::
