On the last day we were all together, Clive took Howard, Jenny and I to Dover Castle on perhaps the coldest and windiest day of the trip:

The oldest building in the castle is an ancient Roman "Pharos" or lighthouse, next to the second oldest building, a Saxon Church, circa 1100:

After a nice lunch, we took a tour of the tunnels into the cliffs below the Castle, originally dug out during the Napoleonic Era, and used during WWII as the headquarters from which the evacuation at Dunkirk was orchestrated. There was an excellent multimedia presentation about Dunkirk, but, unfortunately no photographs were permitted. All in all, thanks to Clive, another excellent trip!:smile2:

Nice one Louis, Dover is one of our very best, she's a beauty. Glad you all had a great visit.

Louis,
I can understand the concerns over photos. Would not want the Germans to find out the evacuation plans ^&grin

Thanks for the photos of King Howard and his Queen:salute::.
