Hi,

So who went to the London show today?

I went for an hour, but had to return to the Natural History Museum so as to pick up the wife and son. We then went into the city for a trip to Hamleys, etc. So couldn't buy anything as I would have to carry it throughout the remaining daytrip.

My highlights,

1. The new Britains ACW figures - An excellent collection, very good detailing and the facial expressions were superb. Although not for sale yet they were on show.

2. Britains Matt WWI - The British infantry they had on show were simply stunning - they even suppassed the ACW figures for detailing. I do hope Britains continue with this early period of WWI, but I suppose it will be based on sales figures in the US.

3 Conte LCM - WOW!!!! - I want one maybe two, just need some JG minatures landscaping, K&C Rangers and a space in my display cabinet.

4 Barzo/TSSD Russian playset - An excellent plastics set, the detailing on the Russians and the Germans (Already have a set) is a massive leap forward as is the Conte Mexicans over the Airfix figures I use to play with.

I didn't really have the time to have a good look at everything, so anyone else got any highlights.

K&C UK stand looked as good as ever, didn't see any pre-releases though.

A question on the Britains figures. In the second half of this year will there be any further new releases of ACW/WWII which haven't been shown yet?

I went to it for the first time and had a great time. I even managed not to spend to much. I ended up buying the new K&C King Tiger because it looked so good and a set of Britains British Paras from 1999 which i'm really pleased with.

My highlights were so many!

1. The 1/6th scale R/C Tiger I. It was absolutely amazing. It even had crew men who moved. I don't think i've ever seen a model so cool.

2. The new Britains stuff. I thought the display copy of the new Kettenkrad with Fallschirmjagers and base was excellent. I really want one and can't wait for it to be released. I just hope the quality of the mass produced version is as good as the demo one.

3. The Frontline Normandy village diorama. I really liked this display. It was all modular and quite reasonably priced for a large diorama set. I'm very tempted by it. It's not quite the right scale for my K&C stuff but I think it would work OK. Anyway I have so much FOV and other 1/32 stuff to go with it.

4. Conte's diorama sets. I hadn't seen any Conte sets in person before but I was impressed by their little scenes. My favourite was "House Cleaning Airborne Style" also the "Taking One With Him" was very well done.

5. The plastic Stalingrad set was quite impressive too although not really my area. The Buildings were very good though and very unusual.

Sorry I've only mentioned WW2 stuff. Other era's were equally well represented but my wallet will not let my roving eye wander!

Andy and James:

Thank you for the good reviews - pleased to read you like what we are up to. Second half of the year will see the release of more ACW infantry and scenics as well as cavalry and artillery. A special all WWII flyer will be relased in about 3-4 weeks showing 10-12 new WWII sets. More WWI one as well second half - cavalry and some French. All new for second half will be Napoleonics and Rev War with a few surprises sprinkled in.

Have focused on matte in this response, but rest assured many new glosss figures - bands, redcoats, and more on the way as well.

Richard

Richard,

Will the new matt figures be continued into the forthcoming year or will they be like K&C and retired, with a new range of ACW, WWI, etc. in Jan 07 ish.

Andy

Dear Andy:

Most sets will be retired in 2007 with new sets replacing them. The occassional evergreen set might be kept into 2007 - but that would be the exception. We will advise when and what is being retired so folks have a heads up.

Take care,

Richard
