The Australian official historian Charles Bean wrote that Pozières ridge "is more densely sown with Australian blood than any other place on earth".

Wonderful tribute Wayne. I've visited Pozieres as it where the Canadian Corps entered the Battle of the Somme after the Australians has seized Pozieres Ridge. Hard to believe the casulties suffered geting to that point and all the casulties yet to come before the offensive concluded in November.
