I'm pretty sure that Rob (Vandilay) posted this some time ago but this is a great site for anyone interested in this unit, LRDG.

There is also this one, the Long Range Desert Group Preservation Society.

I also found a couple of books on Amazon UK that look to be good although I haven't actually ordered them:

The Sting of the Scorpion by Mike Morgan

Providence Their Guide: The Long Range Desert Group 1940-1945. This isn't available from Amazon anymore but can be found at abe books.

I'm sure there must be many other websites and books.

There is another good book called LRDG Rhodesia: Rhodesians in the LRDG. The authors are Jonathan Pittway and Craig Fourie.ISBn 0-620-29346-2. The book documents the activities of the Rhodesian component of the LRDG. It gives due credit to the role of the New Zealand component who were the initial unit that made up the LRDG. This book focuses on the role of the Rhodesian and other Southern African troops in this unit. It is endorsed by the LRDG Association. It is a coffee table type book with loads of good pictures. It also has a good bibliography
.
Regards
Damian

Sounds good Damian.
Doubt if I'll be able to lay my hands on it, but you never know.

Cheers

A local author Brendan O,carrol has written 3 that I know of ,
Kiwi scorpions ,Bearded Brigands and The barce raid.
Bearded brigands is based on the diarys of one of the unit Frank Jopling ,
The Barce raid was also compiled after interviewing vets .
I havent read kiwi scorpions yet .

At the back of the LRDG Rhodesia book they have a bibliography which includes photographs of the dust covers of many of the books. The Kiwi Scorpions is there. I presume the other books by O Carrol are new and are not in the Rhodesian LRDG bibliography.
There are some great images in these books.

I looked up LRDG on Amazon but it seems most of the books are out of print and pretty pricey. About 100 dollars a throw.

Pierre,

That is very cool. Where is that?

Hi Brad-

War Museum in Ottawa. I was there for three hours and could stay for another three. They have really great things. The 88 is very impressive. There is also a Panther, a Panzer II, an Italian Tankette (with Ariete markings), a Raupen Schlepper, WWI artillery... It was a good day.

Next time I'll go to London, I will visit the Imperial War Museum. That must be something.

Pierre.

P.S. I forgot: Hitler's limousine is something. It is big, massive. Can feel that it was a powerful machine. Sinister too.

Nice aquisition:D. Is that vehicle operational or a just static display?
