Got my 2 M3 Lee and Grant. Wow! Great pieces...Honor Bound quality...furious details! Kudos to you Rick! The packaging is well improved and kept the tank safe in transit. Box design is also superb. The price is worth it. The M3 Grant's cloth covered 75MM gun is a first! The only minus is the tow cable which is arching over the M3 Lee tank like an antennae. it should be hugging the the the tank body. Any suggestions from the forum on how to remove it?

Why 2 M3 Lee you may ask? Well, it on its way to Alex for an EA repaint. Monty needs a back-up.

This is good to know. I've been on the fence with this one. I'm not a North Africa collector but I am an armor collector so this piece is relevant.

Can you use a little super glue to get your tow cable to behave?

Super glue might mar the surface. Besides it wont stick on painter surface. I think I'll just snip it out (I've seen pictures of tank unit not having a tow cable or rolled and stowed in the rear).

BTW, the tank is well proportioned and would match with KC & HB. The figures are also superb! Can't wait for the Tank Recovery version. Anyone in the forum with connections with Rick knows the release date of thid baby?

I got my Grant through the mail a week of so ago, courtesy of Clive (Lurchio) at Grey Goose.

I always liked the look of this piece, which I'd seen photos of previously, and even saw one at the December London Show, but on getting my grubby little paws on it, I was amazed at the level of detail on it, the painting and weathering.

Apologies for those that have seen the close up photos before, but for anyone sitting on the fence for these tanks, I can thoroughly recommend it.

And the figures that come with this are very impressively done, a huge jump, IMO, from some of the earlier releases.

Simon, actually this is probably one of the best models I have seen in a long while, I can see why you are pleased with it.

The detail is phenominal, photoetch and all. I've just got to remember that it's not quite as robust as an all polystone tank.

Ooops. Just noticed that the Grant's turret is different from the M3 Lee (US version). Is it historically accurate for the British EA have the M3 Lee version serving side by side with the Grant's? Need the forum feed back before sending the M3 Lee for EA re-paint.

Thanks much

I received a Grant from Clive last week also. Mine is the limited edition of the "Cambrai" model number B38017NAF. http://www.grey-goose.co.uk/productinfo.asp?prodid=255&mcid=0

This model is limited to 30 worldwide and Grey Goose has the exclusive retail rights. I got the Monty and the US versions when they first came out from George at Minute Man here in the US. These three tank models have become the most prized pieces in my collection.:cool::cool::cool::cool::cool:

The quality of these models is extremely very well done. I have had to do some minor repair work on each of them due to the delicate nature of the model and the seemingly irresistible urge of delivery companies to use boxes with my address as pucks in games of hockey during slow periods, but the minor problems I encountered were not worth returning them and I have some modeling and kit bashing skills, along with a couple of tool boxes full of modeling tools and many boxes of paint, brushes, spare parts, etc.

The problems mainly were the tools carried on the engine cover on the rear deck. The metal straps had broken loose, a couple of the pry bars were broken and the fenders had separated from the tank hull. A little super glue applied with a toothpick, some paint and patience and all is well. I sure do love these guys and I am waiting anxiously for the recovery version. And Rick, please do make the recovery version. I don’t care if it’s in the US, British, or other country version just make it available to us this year, PLEASE.

The Cambrai model is very nice, and I was tempted, but it was one or the other, and with 'Monty' living in Rob's hobby shop, and me having been all around it (or as much as I could without running the risk of being kicked out of the IWM ), it had to be the Monty version.

I have a couple of the Stuarts and they hold a wealth of detail.

Due to a weak will, and excellent detailing on these, I ended up with 4, and I agree, the detailing is superb. Although they're 1/32 scale, I can't believe that there are still some knocking around in some stores for $40 - $45.

Do not let the 1/32 tag scare you off. I have the recent K/C Stuart and the Figarti. They are the exact same size, with almost no size difference...Michael

I've got 4, there's no way I can justify (even to myself!) getting any more.

I've got one of the Monty version too - along with the Figarti DAK PzIV they are two of the best models in my collection.
The Cambrai version is tempting too but money just won't permit.

What is the Cambrai version?
