This is an entertaining film about Herman Mankiewicz who wrote the screenplay for Citizen Kane. Gary Oldman plays "Mank." Probably not for everyone but it is very well acted if you have an interest in Hollywood's golden era. And in the classic B&W. It's available on Netflix.

Combat,

I tried to watch it cause I am a Gary Oldman fan...but lost interest.

I will try again.

It's definitely a slow burn. The scene toward the end when Mank explains his idea for a movie to William Hearst is pure gold.

It's interesting that the media spent much of the last four years reporting on every aspect of Trump but I don't recall anyone making the comparison to William Randolph Hearst who he most seemed to resemble in many respects. A person of enormous wealth, ambition, and talent but also with many insecurities and flaws. It adds some modern day relevance to a movie about the golden age of Hollywood.

Most Oscar nominations goes to Mank. A bit of a surprise. It's a great film but slow burn.
