I don't know how I lived this long without seeing this classic movie. I found it free on YouTube in 12 parts. Snowed-in today in Indiana, so that was my chance. I kept pausing to examine the packs on the backs of the Legionnaires. The uniforms look dead-on for what I've seen in Osprey books. Terence Hill could have been the father of that Paul Walker who recently died, striking similarity.

Good movie. Haven't seen it in a while but I remember my favorite part is the opening scenes with the Legion survivors returning from the Western front at the close of the war. -- Al

Love that movie, it's in my top ten, so many classic lines;

"One of my men became restless."
"Why aren't the men in the trenches?"
"Take positions!!"
"If the legion doesn't get you, the arabs will, if the arabs don't get you, the desert will, if the desert doesn't get you, I will."

" Please Sir, What are your orders?
" Orders, What orders?! These are dead men. They didn't join the Legion to live, but to die. And they shall all die."
