Hey fellas:
Just wanted to call to everyones attention an exceptionally kind and generous gift that was given to me by a fellow forum member.
A week or so ago, I get a PM from Marco55 offering to send me his collection of Roman books for FREE!! I was just stunned- he said he enjoyed my post on the Roman War Galley and needed to make some space for his collection. So, he offered me his books.
Well, they arrived today and it is really more like a personal library!!! I was like a kid in a candy shop pulling out all the books about Caesar and various other Roman and Ancient topics like siege warfare, armor and weaponry, the Celts, etc. I got them around 1:30 this afternoon and haven't done anything since- just blew the rest of the day off from work rummaging about through all the great stuff. I am probably going to call off sick or take vacation tomorrow to keep pouring over them.
Very few gifts we receive in life are as precious as knowledge- Marco55 gave it to me for free. There is no way I can thank him enough (though I will try). Just thought I should call him out and use his generousity as a great example of the kindness we can all achieve when we put our minds to it- we are constantly bombarded by negativity (not here on TF), so it's nice to see some genuine acts of kindness be appreciated.
Marco55- you are aces in my book brother.
So, I feel kind of humble because I am always talking trash about guys and gals from New Jersey- which is where he's from- looks like I got a whopper sized serving of humble pie!! Anyway, here's my personal guarantee that nothing more will be said, no matter how it may pain me, about the Jersey State.
Thanks again Marco55- it's things like this that put the "Treasure" into this forum.
STANDS ALONE!!
