This piece was modified. I thought that the original sculpt showing Marshal Kutuzov as a slim figure was unrealistic. Hence, I used putty to broaden the torso, right arm, face and resculpted the cloak and other details accordingly.
Thanks for that picture. Many years back, I had also bought a Marshal Kutuzov figure casting from a Russian company (Joy's Toys, I think). I painted it as in my picture.
Your work on Kutuzov is now very close of the original painting even if it's not realy a good painting, chest far to large, no balance between right and left, you avoided that, good ....
I have seen it painted by a contatc of mine, straight from the box and already like it I like it is . .
(And he is not a Russian painter ^&grin )
Thanks for your kind comments on my work. I also used that painting as a reference and did try to avoid the barrel-chested look in that painting. It was not easy as the original sculpt had the slim figure already balanced in a standing position.
The historical facts do indicate that Kutuzov was fat and enjoyed food (and women). Indirectly, I think I based my depiction on the actor Oscar Homolka in War and Peace.
Your friend Eduardo Garcia Lope is a fantastic painter and his work can also be on other websites. I know that the Spaniards are terrific figure miniaturists...
