Hi all,

As I expand my toy soldier horizons needed a bit of info, I have a decent little collection of K&C Civil War collection, I'd like to add some of the Mass Battle First Legion to the rank and file but wondering how much difference is in the 2 brands? I know our good man Bob does a lot of mix and match and makes it seem flawless but I have nor his talent or size of his collection, I love the price of the Mass Battle range and many still available, any advice will be greatly appreciated.

First Legion's MB Civil war figures go great with WB but are smaller and thinner than K&C.
Still, many collectors do mix so its open to personal tastes. I generally like to keep K&C by themselves, although TCS and TG
sometimes go well with them.

Thanks N.Y. I plan on picking up some Reb, Union troops next week in Cali on vacation, I'll try and work the few K&C pieces in with my First legion troops, looking forward to a gathering of a decent Army for both sides for a nice display shelf.

Sammy, I have been temped often to start an FL Civil War Collection (MB Series).......Post some pictures of them when you have time.... I believe that the paint on MB is somewhat brighter then the regular figures but I think that I remember that they can be muted a bit darker with a very dilute greyish wash applied with a thin brush

I looked at other photos Frank, I could not notice the paintings being brighter than from one MB figure vs. The regular painted ones?? I'll see soon enough, once I get back from Vaca I'll post a few photos, or maybe I'll hoard them to sell on Ebay!!! ^&grin just kidding Frank!!!!!!! :)

Good one sammy....Like it ^&grin:salute::.....I think that the sculpts are identical but the paint is the diffentiating factor.......If you can set them side by side in your photo it would be helpful (if this hasn't been done already on another thread)....i seem to remember a fellow forum menber ajusting the brightness with a wash and they looked very good.... an adjustment that the average forum painter can do without much technical painting skills

Picked up my first Mass Battle figure and more then happy with the quality of the figure for the price!!! I'll certainly be all in on this range to build up a decent Regiment.

My first 2 First Legion Rebs, 1 is Mass Battle, the other Regular painted figure....to my eyes there is a little difference in detail but can't go wrong with either series.

Finally had a chance to do some side by side comparisons with my older K&C and First Legion, a little noticeable that the K&C is a tade larger but not to where it's that noticable, so I'm off to work on a decent size Civil War Battlefield in the next few months!!

Sammy,

I think it will be just fine to mix your troops, especially when you plan to display a larger group, like charging on a battle field.
We saw wonderful displays here on the forum when UKReb was still active, where he mixed lots of mfrs but they all worked so well, I don’t remember any complaints.

Happy Collecting!

Konrad

Thanks Konrad, Going to try as much as possible to use the Mass Battle sets as you can't beat the price for the quality of those figures.

Hopefully we will see a "Mass Battle Series" for NAPS this year.:rolleyes2:

5 more First Legion"Rebs" on the way!! My good ol boys are a gathering quickly. :) where you at Brad from Pa.????

Just ordered my first FL Mass Battle Reb. MB 001, the advancing Captain. Might as well start at the beginning, lol. Can't wait for it to arrive.
