The Napoleonic Era

Our first Russian for the Napoleonic wars and also from one of the elite regiments, the Pavlovski Grenadiers. This regiment was one of the few allowed to keep their old style Mitre hats following uniform changes from early to the later empire uniform regulations. After the 1812 campaign they were made part of the Russian Imperial Guard, a great honour for a Line Grenadier Regiment.
NAP045 our first Grenadier will be the first parade style Grenadiers released before we move onto action and fighting poses.
The master for this figure was painted in Russia and we hope the extra cost was worth it for what is a great looking figure.

The Catpult is a generic term for Torsion Artillery invented by the Greeks and comprised of the Ballista and the Onager. The Ballista is a two torsion spring, two arm throwing engine; which could fire both stone shot and bolts. The Onager was a single torsion spring, single arm throwing engine with a sling; which could throw round shot or pottery jars of flammable material in a high trajectory well suited for siege warfare. Roman catapults were of varying sizes and were generally assembled at the site of the intended siege or as defensive weapons and sited on battlements and therefore had no need for wheels.

ACCPAK017 Roman Onager/Catapult

There are 2 versions of this all metal Onager on offer, the A version with the cradle arm in the just fired position and the B version with the arm lowered and a shot loaded ready to be launched.
Priced at $89/£69 inc VAT and weighing in at a hefty 1.52 pounds or 0.67 kilos.

The Romans

Moving onto the Romans we have a beautiful all metal Onager with four crew figures that can be used in a variety of settings. Because these legionnaires are not being used in a formation setting we could individualise them a little more than we normally do, hope you like the little touches these figures have. There will be more crew to follow later on in the year please note.

ROM099 a standing Legionnaire with helmet removed and strapped to his belt stands by ready to spring into action.

ROM100 a kneeling Legionnaire with a rather unhealthy looking eye wound watches the fall of shot.

ROM101 a senior Legionnaire commands the small group and prepares to order another volley to be fired. This figure can obviously be used in a variety of settings with or without the Onager. As this variant has a shield he comes in the A version with red shield and the B with the insignia of the 30th Legion and the C variant with markings of the 9th Legion.

ROM104 kneeling Legionnaire with rock, ready to load the Onager.

I cannot help but think that ROM041 Shouting Legionnaire would look great with this diorama, unfortunately all sold out at our end! The free standing shields you can see came from our engineer figures but will also be released as an independent 3 shield set in June.
Major thanks must go to James Hutchisson who provided some very detailed and in depth research on the Onager subject matter for us.

All crew figures priced at $49/£39 inc VAT and will be produced so long as demand warrants.

Egypt

The start of a mini series featuring the Ancient Egyptians in the time of Ramses, a Pharaoh who ruled Egypt around 1300 BC during what is now known as the 19th Dynasty. Ramses is still considered one of the most successful Pharaohs of his time and established Egyptian military control in parts of Canaan, Nubia and most spectacularly at Qadesh where he defeated the Hittite King Muwatallis despite being ambushed, Ramses rescued victory from the jaws of defeat and crushed the Hittites. During the early part of his reign Ramses also defeated the Sea People who were ravaging ships travelling to Egypt and plundering their cargoes. Our first four figures comprise a scene from this historic defeat where the King of the Sea People was executed along with other elite officials. However, his soldiers who had so impressed Ramses during the battle, were pressed into service with the Egyptian army where willing or executed along with their King. Later on in this series we will produce an Egyptian chariot as well as some fighting Egyptians and more enemies of Egypt to combat them.

Egypt 001 features Ramses in all his glory beautifully decorated
Egypt 002 The Executioner
Egypt 003 The King of the Sea People
Egypt 004 Palace Guardsman

All figures priced at $55/£45 inc VAT and limited to 150 of each version.
