When he saw Hadrian, the king of all, before rays of the sun,
he greeted him - as far as he was able.

From a Poem by Julia Balbilla

The West Bank, Thebes, Egypt
19th-21st November 130 A.D.

A Del prado Marcus Aurelius, standing in for Hadrian. Hopefully Andy and K&C will do this Emperor in the not too distant future.

Nice to have a change in direction from Vietnam and the Roman theme was another of your strong passions Steve. I've changed direction lately too as most of the dioramas i'm working on have gone away from the ancients to more recent times. Just a bit longer and all will be revealed. Well done on your latest diorama. Regards Greg.

Cheers Greg.

Yep change of time and place for a while with this Roman scene. Not the greatest of poems, but different times then. Visiting there with friends a few years ago I did recite this and Ozymandias by Shelley at the Colossi a few years ago

Got ideas simmering for Vietnam, though as I'm still waiting for the USPS to process my last order for almost three weeks, I'm starting to think they are coming by surface mail across the Atlantic {sm2}

Since K&C have already made a few of the notable Characters of ancient times, Caesar, Vercingetorix, Caractcus, Boudicca, Mark Antony, Cleopatra and Jesus of course it'd be interesting to see a few more.
