In the latest eMemorial email from the Australian War Memorial in Canberra, this article informs us that the WW1 A7V Sturmpanzerwagen, Mephisto is now on exhibition.
It says :
After 70 years of exhibition in Queensland the German First World War German tank Mephisto is now on display at the Australian War Memorial.
To commemorate the centenary of the First World War the Memorial has collaborated with the Queensland Museum to show Mephisto outside Brisbane for the first time since it reached our shores in 1919.
Mephisto is now on display in Anzac Hall.
Photos of the Mephisto exhibition are now available on Flickr https://www.flickr.com/photos/australianwarmemorial/20106687025/in/photostream/
More information on this tank, with images and plans is on the AWM website here https://www.awm.gov.au/mephisto/
This may be of interest to collectors who are waiting to purchase the new John Jenkins model of the tank, as show on a thread in the Forum in June.
Pity I missed out on seeing this 'monster' because I visited our memorial at the beginning of this month .... oh well, next time???
