I'm heading to the Mid-Atlantic Air Show in Reading, PA this year and was wondering if any forum members have been in years past? Do the same planes come every year?

For those interested:

I've been a couple of times. It's a great event, but can get hot and crowded on the weekend. Go on Friday if you have the option. Or as early as possible. They bus you in from the parking lot and lines get long. Most of the planes are the same. Unfortunately, fewer and fewer WWII vets are around to attend. I met Paul Tibbets a couple years ago. Pilot of the Enola ***. That was quite an experience.

Re: Mid-Atlantic Air Show (World War II Weekend at the Mid Atlantic Air Museum)

It's well worth the trip.

Regarding the warbirds that will be there, you can see the expected slate at the page for the WWII Weekend at their website: http://www.maam.org/maamwwii.html

The Confederate, er, excuse me, Commemorative Air Force's B-29 "Fifi" is supposed to be there. I've never seen a B-29, so I'm excited.

Some of the aircraft belong to the museum and are there every year; others appear by arrangement and so, there is some variety.

Lots of reenactors, too, US, Allied and Axis, and civilians, too, though, look for anachronisms among the civilians.

It can get hot, if it's sunny. I take a backpack with water, and my dad and I take along sports chairs, so we can sit and watch the aerial reenactments.

It's definitely worth it!

Prost!

My friends and I are very excited, it will be our first time. I was hoping to see a German plane, but none appear on the current roster. I saw that in years past a Stuka replica was there.

I went a few times. Met Bill Guarnere there and it was pretty neat discussing Currahee stories together!! ;)

It's a good show and I echo the statements by Combat and Baron- usually very hot as it is held on a tarmac. Friday is easily the best day to go. Good times to be had.
