70 years ago, the US Navy halted the Japanese victory run through the Pacific at the Battle of Midway, thus helping to turn the tide against the Japanese and starting the Allies on their road to ultimate triumph. It would be hard to find a more important event in the Pacific war. To the men of all arms and services involved in this incredible victory (all credit to Walter Lord), Salute! -- Al

The battle of Midway was remembered with ceremonies in Washington today. I read and collect Pacific naval books and lately there has been some excellent books on the subject. The authors of "Shattered Sword" book on Midway has a forum and interesting posts on the naval war in the Pacific.
