Hi Guys:
W. Britain and Osprey are looking very seriously at sponsoring a Military History Weekend in Williamsburg, Virginia the weekend of October 17/18 - same weekend as the Yorktown re-enactment. The event would take in all aspects of our various military related hobbies - toy soldiers, military miniatures (painting and sculpting), military art (think Keith Rocco), Books - Osprey of course and others!, Wargames - demos and dealers, Militaria, Re-enactors - sutlers, military modelling. We would heavily promote it to a wide variety of collectors and others outside our hobbies. In essence exposing as many new people to military history as possible - in a fun, engaging and interesting way.
There would be activities for serious collectors and historians, for kids and even a tranquility suite with tea, wine and chocolate for the spouses.
The Saturday would feature a guided tour of the Virginia Peninsula's many military sites from Yorktown (of course) to American Civil War and WWII locations. The day would end with an evening event. Sunday would be show day with Jeeps, deuce and halfs etc. parked in front of the hotel and a suitable array of "GI's" around and other re-enactors and a diverse array of vendors and activities inside the hotel (right next to the Williamsburg Historic area).
Many more details to follow on this. Thought we'd let you all know what we are up to and hope you can join us in October!
Richard
