All this talk about the new 1:32 AIRFIX reissues, but how come no one is mentioning that the sets are incomplete?

I know that the "SHOT" pose is missing from the US PARATROOPER set and the "DEAD" figure is missing from the GURKHA set.
What's the story? I NO like!

Airfix was a bit "funny" over the years about changing moldings without a lot of explanation. I have off-and-on dabbled in their 1/72nd (or 1/76th) figures over the years. I remember having an early issue of the US Marine set. A few years later I bought another one and saw that just a couple of poses were changed (but no change in box art or title), then years later they did the major revision that changed almost all the sculpts. Perhaps a mold got damaged and they just filledthe cavity versus re-cutting it? Supposedly the reason that there hasn't been a re-release of their fine 1/32nd scale 17-pounder AT gun is that the molds became damaged.

To me, AIRFIX is one of the Holy Grails of toy soldiers.
EVERY pose is sacred and should be found and restored into the reissued sets.

Hi - I saw a documentary on tv a few years ago when all the Airfix moulds/tooling came back to the UK from France. I think that they are aiming to reintroduce most items over the course of time. I am sure that they have looked at the soldier sets and omitted some poses that may not be popular, it took me years to ponder what the US wounded Para pose actually was. He can still be found in original sets on ebay and toy /collectors fairs easy enough.

I like the Napoleonic sets and wonder if they had more poses not released. I know about the 2nd version French Imperial Guard Officer, but are there other unused figure moulds sitting in storage?

They are great figures mostly created by Ron Cameron and great to convert especially the original soft plastic versions.

I heard rumor that there was also a set of 1/32 Prussians sculpted for Waterloo that never saw production, anyone have any info about the truth to that and what ever happened to them???

Did AIRFIX ever do them in 1:72?
If so, theirs your sneak peek.

Airfix did do 1/72 Prussians but this set was not that one from what I read but sculpted just for 1/32. The 1/72 set was not sculpted well enough to have been made in 1/32. I read that the sculpts never saw the light of day but it also said there were photos of the sculpts and I think they were released in a magazine.
If anyone has those photos it would be great to have a peak at what could have been, I,ll post the photos for you if you have the pics and don,t know how to post. I would really like more info on this set if anyone knows anything about the set and why it was never released and if the sculpts are still out there and might even be released in the future like the missing Bill Farmer British sculpts.

Hmmm - very interesting about the Prussians. You can check out some of the 1/72 set changes over at Plastic Soldier Review. Some of the early stuff was quite rough and they ended up totally re-vamping whole sets. For example, the first paras set was sort of an ill-defined allied hodgepodge that really needed work.

I looked, but couldn't find.
You know, in many ways, the MARX 6 inch figures, are the lost or missing siblings or their 1:32 counterparts.
For a while you could buy the 6 inch Japanese, Soviets, Marines and Germans shrunk down to 1:32.
I think they were bootlegged from Russia. I bought them all.
