Being on this side of the pond, I always curious about UK modelzone experiences that other members of this forum have had as I am a newbie. Especially per my earlier remark that they are planning a hand to hand set from the kraal in another thread. I am a little disappointed that Britains allowed them to do exclusive historical figures like all 3 VC winners from Isandlwana because of their limited runs and availability Would other forum members mind sharing how they go about acquiring these pieces. I am assuming Treefrog would not mind as they don't compete with them for exclusives Does the modelzone website allow for international shipping? I have heard that once they sell out on their website you can only buy from actual brick and mortar store in the UK and only one handles international requests? Now saying all that I have the washing of the spears set and will continue to look for melvin, cahill, wassal, cold steel and twilights.

You can order direct from the website but the shipping is extortionate. I have always contacted the Croydon store direct and saved myself quite a bit on the postage. I have all the pieces except Melville and Coghill, my reason is they fell out of the William Britain main numbering system so I didn't bother. They also seem to be disconnected in theme from the rest of the releases.

I will try the Croydon store next time. But within the last two weeks I have contacted a couple of stores including the the Croydon store by email and no response.

I was able to obtain the Coghill figure from a fellow colletor. This was the last Modelzone figure that I needed.

Up until this year my experiences with Modelzone have been pretty positive.
However, recently my opinion of Modelzone has nosedived.
My first problem was with the Croydon store.
Recently Modelzone had a sale advertised on their website and they included a number of WB matt and gloss soldiers and sets. These were all listed on their website but when you read the small print it said on many of the items that they were "discontinued" or not available on-line.
So I had to telephone their extensive list of UK branches to find out exactly what was available in their stores.
I drew up a short list of items I wanted to buy and asked each store to hold the items until I visited each store.
So having had to contact each store I then had to visit each store.
This to me wasn't a problem because it meant getting some great WB items at a discounted price or so I thought.
The problems started with my first stop at the Croydon store. They said they had put aside some items for me but it turned out they never had them in the first place to put aside.
After about half an hour of waiting for the results of a fruitless search by the sales person I left the store empty handed and pretty annoyed.
I continued my tour of Modelzone stores and this sequence repeated until in the end I ended up with 50% of the items I had wanted and had been told were put aside for me by these stores.
I was less than pleased after driving around all day long visiting these various stores.
But my real gripe with Modelzone was still to come.
One of the WB items listed in the sale on the website was one of the Modelzone exclusive Zulu sets Warrior Twilight.
The website said it was discontinued and no longer available but just to make sure I rang around their stores to see if there were any still out there. I was told that there were none available.
I was therefore quite shocked that Modelzone then put one up on eBay in an open auction a few days later. It eventually sold for over £100.00 in the auction.
I contacted Modelzone about my experiences and was not at all satisfied with their response.
I have spent hundreds if not thousands of pounds with Modelzone over the years but I will certainly try to buy elsewhere in future after this experience and the shoddy manner in which my complaints were dealt with.
I wish WB didn't have this exclusive range agreement with Modelzone but they are a bulk dealer of WB products so we are where we are.
If I am not happy with the service or product I always walk away but the fact that WB have now also made our club vouchers exclusively for use in Modelzone only it is difficult.

MZ hoodwinked(!) me about that very 'Twighlight' model. I had intended to buy it purely to sell at vastly inflated prices later on. I make no bones about that.

When I visited MZ a few weeks prior to them selling it on ebay I was told that there was only one Twighlight set remaining in the whole country, but this set was part of a huge order made with them for over £2500. I asked them to contact me if the order did not go through and low and behold it turns up on ebay! Can't begrudge them this however, as I had exactly the same intentions, the difference being I intended to wait a few years!

I'm still dubious about the set sold though. I ordered 10 sets when it came out and had to send one back to be replaced as the fur on top of the shield had snapped off. I wouldn't put it past them to have glued it back on!

Yeah I have no problem with any store listing their products on eBay.
It's being lied to that I don't like.
To be told there are no more left and then to see one on eBay a few days later is dishonest IMO.

The original price of the Twilight model was £59.99. They had it in their "sale" for £39.99.
When I enquired they said they had none left and then a few days later they sell one on eBay for over £100.00.

When I questioned this with their customer service I was told that it was an item used in a display or as a sample and was now a part of an ex-employees collection that they were selling for him/her.

This is what I said to them.......

"If this item and other items are owned by an ex-employee why doesn’t that ex-employee list their own items using their own eBay account?
Why confuse Modelzone customers by listing the same item in your sale at a reduced price when it is no longer available in the store?
Furthermore I cannot remember reading in the description that the set you are selling on eBay is an “ex-display model”, or a “sample” or that it is from someone’s private collection.
It is presented as a new item being sold by the Modelzone store which I find misleading to potential bidders."
They didn't reply to that email.

I was going to report it to eBay but I couldn't be bothered.

I feel better just not buying from them in the future.

WEll i had a good experience buying the washing ofthe spears set. I had it shipped to a cousin in Scotland ( i think for free), and he mailed it to me. Seemed to go well....

this shipping they wanted was a joke!
