I am interested in the possible purchase of some of the Monarch Regalia Crimean War figures.

I know that Tedtoy handles this line in the US and have seen the pics on his website.

My question is does anyone here own any of these figures or seen them at shows? What do you think of the overall quality. (painting, casting, etc.) I know from experience that a pic on a website and actually seeing the figure in person can be a completely different experience.

Hi Chuck,

I do not own any of the Monarch Regalia Crimean figures, but I have seen them up close. Further, I have a rather nice collection of Monarch Regalia Samurai figures, including the complete series of the Ii Clan.

I cannot say enough good things about the Monarch Regalia figures. They are very nicely sculpted and beautifully painted. And, you are correct, the pictures do not do justice to these fine figures. If you enjoy glossy finished figures, I am confident that it will be a pleasure for you to add the Monarch Regalia figures to your collection.

If you choose to purchase some of these figures, please let us know what you think of them. I will be interested to know if you enjoy them as much as I do!

Warmest personal regards,

Pat :)

I agree they are some of the nicest gloss figures I have seen. I owned a set of 93rd highlanders from his Crimea line but sold them a while ago. I am fairly confident you would not be disappointed with them.

Like Pat I have a pretty large collection of Monarch's samurai and they are my favourite toy soldiers I own.

I have purchased the #129 single figure from their Crimean line for my dad, and the painting and sculpting was equal in every respect to their superb samurai. The only defect on it was that the corner of the figure's base was bent upwards but it still stands okay and this was more of a one-off defect as I have never encountered this particular problem with the samurai.

In addition to Ted's site, you can find alternative pictures of many of Monarch's sets on Toy Soldiers Paris: http://www.toysoldiers.fr/index.asp?ID=478

Yo Trooper, hope you have better luck than I did, the items I was after where sold out waited six weeks for new shipment from Monarch still didn't get them, and getting an answer is something else. No disrespect mean't here guys up to now tried to buy stuff off two US dealers and its like asking them to deliver them personally, once you say you dont live in the states thats it, and all they have to do is put a custom's ticket on it, just the same with a lot of ebay US sellers wont ship out of the US sometimes I think its on another planet.
Bernard.

Thanks Canadian Samurai for the link.

Bernard,

As to shipping to the UK it seems like some folks just don't want to be bothered. Not a very friendly way to run a busisness. I know shipping cost have really been skyrocketing though.

Hi,
Just to add to what's been said, I have a 93rd Highlanders Crimean War set, bought from Toy Soldiers Paris, and it surely is one of the best gloss sets I own. Excellent details, very well done faces and bodies, imacculate painting. I have posted a pic of this set on the Imperial Productions picture thread ( they stand next to Imperials Crimean War Coldstream Guards, competing with them for the best figures title:D ). I had no problems or delays ordering them from Paris, but payment is in Euros and you're on the other side of the pond...

Regards,
Paulo
