Hi All,
Came across this old and forgotten piece. An early failed conversion of a Heller camel into a bactrian camel with a drummer and two naqareh drums.
I think the rider is perched too high and we'll see what happens.

This something REALLY different, I bet he will be colourful?

Hi John,

I hope so. I'll have to sculpt the figure a bit more as he is rather bland for now.

I looked at pix of Bactrian camels and decided to reshape the whole beast. Did a lot of work with my drills. Changed the position of the neck, humps and shortened the legs. Also removed some fur here and there. I mounted the drums onto the camel with pins. The mtd figure can reach the drums. Looks about right to me.

I decided to check the proportions of the Bactrian camel again. The body should be longer, the two humps should occur over the back, not directly over the limb joints. Also the back is quite high, almost on par with the head. The height of the two humps are above that of the head.

So I took the camel apart and rejigged it. The body was made longer and the seat was elevated. I used thick wires to stake out the height of the humps.
