I originally posted this in an older and bigger thread, I think it got lost in the shuffle, so I thought those interested would want to see it in it's own thread.

A couple of points on the French and Indian War series. Especially the Monongahela. There are at least 2 more pieces coming out. One is a 2011 Collector Club figure of a mounted G. Washington in red uniform (I petition everytime I talk to John ), and a Supply wagon pictured below. I also pictured below a photo taken out of a book of what this piece should look like, from Fort Ligonier artillery park. After that, Monongahela will probably be closed. I also petition for Fort Necessity/Jumonville, John tried to release his ranges to coincide with the 250th anniversaries, but missed out of Ft. Necessity. He said he may return to it, but that will be the last F & I War range.

First of all sorry for my English, I am happy to have joined the Forum, thanks to Mikemiller for his kind encouragement.
About the matter I spoke some months ago with John about this Supply Wagon posted by BlakeWR85. Really this would be a nice addition to the Monongahela collection also if these carts were gone back to Fort Cumberland by Braddock as too cumbersome.
At the time John told to me that his model was at a stand as he didn’t know the real front harness. Really all the pictures I have seen take the wagon from the rear.
I think would be great that a collector friend living near Fort Ligonier go to take some pictures at the front of the wagon and send them to John to allow to complete it!
Thanks to all for your attention!!!
Carlo.

Great news about the Washington figure. That's one that collectors have been asking for since nearly the beginning. I do hope John never completely abandons the FIW era. Ticonderoga alone has many, many possibilities which could keep going for years. And Quebec has a great deal that could to be done. I like the smaller lines too like Snowshoes where it's realistic to get buy every set. Hopefully John adds something like that down the road whether it's Ft. Necessity, Jumonville or Bushy Run. Attached are a couple photos that I took at Carlisle Barracks recently during their Washingtonburg market:

Carlo...mi amigo......your English is perfect...at least 100% better than my Italian...I'm really glad you decided to finally join the forum...I look forward to your work, your comments and your pictures...if I can assist you in any way...just let me know...it would be my pleasure to help you...you will be an asset to the forum and John Jenkins thread...

concerning the ammunitions wagon...just coincidently...

I asked John about it last week..."The Ammunition wagon is for Monogahela…. And still hasn’t progressed any further…. But hopefully will happen."...

so...if the front harness is a problem...maybe a phone call to Fort Ligonier requesting a photo might solve the problem...

so glad you joined Carlo...lets see some of your dioramas...

Nice pictures Doug...thanks...is that considered a "lakeboat"...it's not a "whaleboat" is it?

I had no idea the stockades were so small...for some reason...I thought they were a lot larger...

Combat: ever been to Fort Frederick in Maryland in April for their 18th century market fair and rifle frolic? Thanks for the pictures.

Carlo: Glad to see you join, your English is great, good point about the heavy wagons being turned back to Ft. Cumberland (where my wife and I are originally from). I'm not sure exactly what were the "heavy" wagons, but I've posted some pics from Robert Griffing's painting "The wounding of Braddock." Griffing is known for his extreme historical accuracy and research. (Doug: Griffing actually has one of those blockhouses in his back yard!) The first picture shows a two-wheeler, like John's earlier release of the tumbrel cart, except this one has a red top, that would be a cool piece (even if John made a piece to convert his tumbrel cart into this one, just the top only :p) So if there was doubt about the 4-wheeler being one of the heavy wagons, this would be the solution. But to possibly negate what I just said, the second picture shows a 4-wheeler wagon with a white canvas top, which would lead me to believe that the one John is sculpting with the red top would be suitable for the battle, as it was one that was not sent back to Fort Cumberland.

If John is having trouble with the front, a picture may work, but I'm positive he could get some blueprints, I believe he used them on his prior pieces, I know Ron Barzso used the blue prints for his Braddock Defeat artillery train (that's a plastic guy for all the metal guys out there :D).

Okay to clarify on the "heavy" wagons, I found some photos (I thought I remember seeing this particular wagon at Ft. Ligonier before). I think the blue conestoga wagon with the white canvas may have been the heavy wagons sent back (but that doesn't explain the one in the picture I posted of Griffing's painting )

Maybe for a limited engagement like Snowshoes, I can see retiring a series. But I do not see any point in closing a larger battle like BoM. JJD did not exhaust the battle. A year or two from now, I see no harm in providing pioneers and a road clearing crew or a crew of sailors with tackle trying to haul a 12-pounder up a mountain.

Why close anything?

In a slightly different vein, having figures that can be used at more than 1 location is a distinct bonus. For example, without modification, the La Sarre from Quebec can be used at Ticonderoga. Several, but not all, french regiments have this ability. BoM Indians surely can be used at Bushy Run. Notice how the miltia figures for Quebec are being marketed as BoM friendly and they will be equally useful at Ticonderoga.

I totally agree. There are many more aspects to the BoM, more grenadiers would be nice :D Especially in poses like the return to Monongahela line figures. I think some 48th regt. sets could be added too. Like you mentioned, some batmen clearing the way. I mentioned the 60th Royal Americans to John, since he was doing Carillon/Ticonderoga, he liked the idea that they could be used at Quebec as well, he said this unit was on his to-do list, I like to see those.

okay...I sent an email to the Director of Fort Ligonier asking for close ups of the wagon harness...if he responds I will post them and email them to John...maybe he will finish this piece if he is just waiting on a little research...

this might help...I got this reply from Martin West...the Director of Fort Ligonier...

here is a picture he sent with some info...

Hello Mr. Miller,

I am sorry to tell you that we do not have any images of front harness assemblies for the wagons or even know of any. I have attached a photo of the ammunition wagon that you are probably familiar with. Also, upon looking at your site, I wanted to let you know that we had the tops of the ammunition boxes on the carriages painted red, but have since found that they were actually gray. Also, we do not think that Braddock took any of the 4-wheeled wagons to the Monongahela. They were left with Dunbar's column. Two wheeled carts were used there, as we know, Braddock was carried off on an ammunition cart.

Good luck with your project,

Martin West

I thought right to post the received picture of the Supply Wagon in this thread too as we spoke a lot about it's front harness. We shall see about the final paint.
