Notice the company sizes and the number of lieutenants and sergeants per company. The grenadier company is under Captain Ince, the Company in the Fort under Captain Ormsby. The other 35th companies are in the Entrenched Camp (5 companies, very much like the Ticonderoga log walls), or at Fort Edward (4 Companies - Major Fletcher, Manusell, Captain Fletcher and Bellew).

At full strength, the typical "tricorner" company = 1 Captain, 2 Lieutenants, 1 Ensign, 2 Drummers, 4 Sergeants, 4 Corporals, and 100 Privates. Together, the Corporals and Privates are the Rank & File, so no separate column for the corporals.

During the Siege, 15 Rank & File were killed, 2 officers and 7 Rank & File wounded. An additional 27 men missing or killed as part of the Massacre, none being officers.

The column "Recommended" is a "white out" from the normal column of "Recruiting". It might be how many men are being recommended for discharge due to wounds or sickness.

The number "8" is penned very diferently then we do today, so it is often confusing. Under Ince the number "Fit for Duty" is 84, bottom line.
