Sad to hear of the passing of John Barry who composed great movie music such as James Bond(11 movies), Born Free, Dances With Wolves and Midnight Cowboy etc and won 5 Oscars.

If I recall correctly, he was responsible for the magnificent theme to ZULU too.

You are quite correct. For that, alone, he deserves to be remembered. Along with the Bond music, I found Barry's music made the movies memorable. -- Al

Just purchased from iTunes (the whole soundtrack, not just the main theme). I recommend it heartily to all our AZW collectors and beyond - if I had a zulu war collection, I would have it playing on a constant loop. The album includes Richard Burton's reading of "The VC Roll". Just superb.

Sorry to hear about his passing. I always liked most of John Barry's stuff. He had quite a gift.

On a side note, the guitar riff that one associates with James Bond was actually composed by Monty Norman. It was adapted by Barry and many others over the years. I got that from the credits on the back of my "Dr No" vinyl album many years ago. Barry's original "James Bond THeme" was quite different.
