Hi All,
A good friend of mine curates a museum in the NE US which was recently robbed. He is looking to rebuild the collection, and he wants one or more ship models depicting a wooden sailing vessel that would have appeared on the Connecticut River, such as a schooner or a barque. Unfortunately, the museum is not wealthy, and cannot afford to pay for someone to build a model. While there is a slight chance the cost of the kit could be reimbursed, he is looking for someone who would be willing to build and donate a model. This person would be given full credit in the display and whatever other honors/publicity would make sense. I know we are all busy, but if any of you who like to make kits could spare the time, this guy is a veteran and has done a lot of work for the museum.
Please PM me if interested in any way.

Hi, Sandor,

You might want to refer your friend to the Connecticut Model Marine Society, a chapter of the IPMS, website is http://www.ctshipmodels.org/ As I recall from some of their newsletters, they have a strong contingent of guys who build wooden ship models. Going through a club, you might be more likely to find modelers willing to help the museum without recompense, just for the opportunity to build another model and have it displayed.

Hope that helps, prosit!
Brad
