I started calling this little dio the Musket dio because when a long time friend of mine found out about my new hobby he liked it so much he wanted me to make him one and he took it as partial trade for a very nice Enfield musket that we had been trying to come to terms over. Thought I would show it off here and see what ya'll think.

I forgot to mention, it's of course 1/72 scale plastic and a mixture of Imex & Accurate Union & Confederate sets.

Captain

Thank you for sharing this great diorama with us. We see too few examples of 1/72nd scale (Warrior/George's nice WWII scenes being an exception to that rule). It is definitely a scale perfect for lots of figures and scenery without taking up much space. I take it you did the nice job of painting and scenery making. That is a great display case too and it fits perfectly on your ACW filled bookcase.

Congratulations from a Yankee who lives in a town named Bedford:)

Thank you for the kind words. Yes, I made/painted everything. The yellow base is a styrefoam inner pack that parts arrive in at work. They throw away about 100 of them a day. (I have been warned by Mrs. Captain about bringing anymore home) The plexiglass I had cut at Lowes' Hardware store (cheap) The trees are Woodland Scenics that I added a little paint to. The stones and split rail fence are from my yard. It needed a little dressing up so I put the wood trim around the top and bottom and added the nameplate which was bought and engraved at my local jeweler.

Welcome to forum Captain. I enjoy your work on this diorama. Small scale modeling is fun. I occasionally make and paint 1/72 figures. I still got boxes of 1/72 figures to paint. Nice work and I saw this fine piece on HB forum. Leadmen

Thanks for the welcome Leadmen. I was buying up lote of 1/72 scale ACW for a long time when I came across them planning for years to make dioramas. I finally started last fall and wish I had done it along time ago. If it werent for acrylic paints though I doubt I'ld have done it all. They are so easy to work with, they're terrific.

Very nice work, Captain, and welcome to the madhouse. We are all a bit loony here, but we have a lot of fun.

Thank you for the welcome Louis. It's very nice to be here. I'm not sure which is more fun, building the dios or posting the pictures on the forums!

Keep building and posting photos, and maybe you'll figure out which you enjoy more. In the mean time we'll enjoy your efforts!:p

Nice work Captain, glad to see another 1/72nd scale collector in the fold; don't worry, we'll convert more of them over to the small scale stuff...................

There was no doubt in my mind that you'd find a home here Captain and welcome aboard....The Lt.

Thank you most kindly Lt. I fear sir that I am rapidly becoming addicted to forums.

Trying to give us all scale envy, huh?:D:rolleyes:

It's not the size of the figure in the fight, it's the size of the fight in the figure! heehee.

Captain,

Good set up, nice dio. Congratulations.

Cheers:)

Thanks once again. The kind words have me inspired. I'm working on another one now that is the same size and has a creek in it. The water thing is taking a long time.
