I love studying the revolutionary war and just last year discovered this fine hobby of collecting Britians rev war figurines. I have immersed myself in the collecting to the point where I am drowning in the Britians rev war figurines. I wait with great anticipation for the release of the 2006 offerings. Forgive my ignorance as I am new to the hobby, but if anyone from the Britians company is out there, I think these ideas would be a great hit for us collectors:
  1. Patrick Henry figurine
  2. Sam Adams and the Sons of Liberty
  3. Ben Franklin figurine
  4. Carpenters's Hall and the Old North Church Bldgs
  5. A fife and drum corp
  6. Battle of Yorktown
I hope I am not just dreaming here as I'd really like to see the company produce something like this. What does everyone else think?

From the little that has been leaked from Britains I would think you may get your wish this coming year for some of the figures you mentioned. Hope you have fun collecting them.

Dave

This coming week should be the Great Unveiling of what will be coming out from the W. Britains company. Dealers should be receiving info and pics sometime in the next week--the suspense is killing me (and so are all the questions from customers that I haven't been able to answer without this info:p )

I think Shannon has a Britains addiction. When she and her family visited my home this summer, thats all she talked about. Not that its all that bad. Just seems to me that women have the "bug" as much as men, once they get bitten. :D Michael

I too would like to see some new AWI sets. I just started collecting this period and have only a few of the now retired sets.Looking through the old catalog link that Peter was kind enough to provide a link to, I see many sets i would have liked to have at least 1 each, some as many as 4 sets but I guess they are long gone.I have about 40 each Conte Redcoats and Continentals, a few King and Country Redcoats, Some Britians Fusilers and a nice mix of Conte and Britians Militia, about 24 total. Hunting ebay for retired sets but few to be had, especially artillery sets.
My latest obsession.
Pic for fun.Had them all out on the battle table Saturday nite{ put out the FIW too, I know it's not accurate but it made a fun display} so me and a buddy of mine fought a toy soldier battle using THE SWORD AND THE FLAME wargame rules supplement for FIW.
Splendid low impact good time.

I'm impressed FUBAR - a wargame with 54mm figures - what a sight to see! Rev War coming in late 2006 from W. Britain - big Rev War anniversary this year? mmmm......

Toy soldiers set-up in action on a diorama are a thing of beauty (remember, beauty is in the eye of the beholder). FUBAR, they look great. Again, I wish I could have a large building with lots of big open span rooms to construct dioramas from all the different ages from Egyptain to Iraq. What a dream that is.:) Michael

Yes 2006 is a big rev war year--it's the 230th annv of the declaration of independence/rev war. What do you mean by late 2006? Are you saying that we will have to wait almost the entire year before Britians puts out any rev war items?? Will there be anything forthcoming anytime soon??? Please don't make us wait!!!

Thanks guys, it was a fun battle since I won, for once .Yes, I wargame with 54mm sometimes.ACW, WW2 , ZULU { have all the Conte Playsets and figures painted plastics, only one time but it was fun} and other collections like 1066 and Napoleonics that Have never been gamed just displayed.
I have a dream of a 150' building at the farm to hold all the troops, dioramas and displays but it remains a dream.

Looking forward to AWI release's from Britians and other makers this year.
Since my own AWI has been built up set by set over the last year, I guess I missed the boat on some splendid looking sets I would like to find.
Heres a list if anyone on the forum can give me a heads up as to where I could find them.Need multiples of some and I know that won't be easy but here goes.

Britians 17285 American Artillery
17355 British 62nd Foot x 4 sets
17356 3rd NJ
17221 British 10th Light Infantry x 2
17446 British 10th Light infantry x 2

I didnt even know these existed until Peter was kind enough to post the link to the old Britians catalogs.Should have been looking for these at OTSN. Don't know where my head was!Silly me.

I have a few of the cateloges from Britains and one from a company over in the UK called MKL Models I keep all of the stuff for reference and if you keep your eye open on ebay they come up for sale quite often. Also there is a store in Kentucky called Stone Castle Imports that has had these cateloges listed so it may be a place to look for some, they are worth having so you can figure out what you are missing from your collections. I would start the look for AWI figures in 2001 there are a ton listed in the 2002 that say they were new that year and the 17221 set was listed in 02. Good luck.

In one word.........WOW! I love all the red and I'm not even British. Its a cool looking display. I'm in the process of building my British army from the American Revolution but as we all know its takes $$$$$$$. I love toy soldier collecting and sat and admired this display for quite a while. Nice job!

I suppose it might be time to see a "Wish List 2008" started for the AWI and FIW periods. There are some new sculpts in the upcoming 1st Quarter 2008 catalog, but we still have three more catalogs and 11 months left to design new sets. What would you like to see added to the existing line at this time?

Ken you've got the begining of mine via my shout list....The Lt.

Well I don't really collect the AWI or FIW but I do have a wish list :D

Some new items for the Ceremonial collection

Revive the Trooping of the Colour & the Hollowcast series.

How about doing the Wild West ?? Stagecoaches, chuckwagons, civilians, Billy the Kid, salloon girls, Native Americans, Buffalo shooting scene. Facades of old buildings, wigwams :)

OK, here's my AWI wish list for 2008:

Mounted figures -- I especially think that a mounted officer would be a great complement to the fantastic new artillery set. I know that cavalry didn't play a big role in this conflict, but some mounted officers would add some visual interest (and variation in height) to a display.

Americans in long hunting shirts.

Tories

Personalities -- here are just a few: Simon Frasier, Lord Cornwallis, Nathaniel Greene, LaFayette, Anthony Wayne.

I'm with Blackhat in wanting some mounted AWI figures. I would also like to see lots of militia.

I just started collecting the FIW Classic series thanks to Randy (67Polarbear), but I was wondering if Britains is considering doing an FIW series in matte? That would be a definite buy in my book!!!

Mark

Thanks for the suggestions!
There will be some interesting additions in the next catalog for most of our major series, including AWI, ACW and for Joe and the others... several new additions to our Zulu War range.
As some of you already know we launched our 'Museum Series' in Matt and this will include some F&I sculpts from time to time. For those of you collecting our Redcoats/Bluecoats and Gloss F&I, there will be a number of new sculpts to fill in some of the gaps there.
All in all, this should be a good year for personalities, mounted figures and support services. Keep the suggestions coming!
All the best!

Ken Osen

Hopefully with the release of the Trooper, Kings Troop, Royal Horse Artillery we will also see a mounted one
