I know that the Korean War has been deemed off limits by TS makers, but since my mom gave me my fathers 1950 photo album from the war, after he passed, I have been bitten by the historical and collecting bug, from that forgotten conflict. Attached is a photo of my dads' weapons squad from the front 1950-51 with names noted. Also attached is an Edmunds set a squad from that period. Notice the pencil mustache on the one guy..Looks like my Dad...Happy Fathers Day.{sm0}Michael

Great photo of your dad's squad Michael, is the Jesse Newton in the picture any relation?

Your father looks like stock early Hollywood leading man material. Having served in Korea post ceasefire, and enduring 3 Korean winters, I have the utmost respect for those that lived on the line out in that weather under those conditions.

Classic Toy Soldier has produced a set of Korean war Chinese/N. Koreans in 54mm plastic.

No, he is not. I have photos of some 25 members of his platoon with names on them. Just about every Korean War vets records were destroyed in a fire at a government warehouse. I have distributed this photo, asked about and web search the names of these men, so that their families might now have the only photo of their Dad ,brother, or uncle from that time. That has become a passion and a mission of mine. I have gone to my Dad's regimental and Division websites to find out any info. The silence is deafening as most of this era is gone and too few of this present generation do not know nor care about the Korean police action. If any vets out there can help me further the word, these 25 soldiers of my Dad's platoon might be resurrected in our memories again. This was my Dad's squad in Korea 1951-1952

Remarkable. A worthy mission, Mike and I wish you all luck. -- Al

Great picture of great men. I wouldn't say that the Korean War is totally forgotten. In the last ten years, there have been a number of books, new and rereleases, that have come out about the war. I have talked to other collectors who have expressed an interest in the Korean War. I talked to Dale Dye at the TEXAS TOY SOLDIER SHOW, and he said he was at work to get a Mini-series going about a U.S. Company (Not sure if Army or Marines.), from begining to end of the Korean War.
As far as toy soldiers, Classic Toy Soldiers has done a set of plastic Korean War Chinese and are working on North Koreans, U.S. Army and Marines, ect.. And I am sure there will be a few playsets too. (Something I have wanted for years.) So, there is hope that ehe Forgotten War will be remembered.

Wonderful! I also have my dad marching with the USNR ca 1939 just before they were called up in 1940.
