Crimea Range
Set 80 - The Thin Red Line
I just really love the officer - something really special about him that appeals to me - hence thought I'd share.:smile2:

Yes, Imperial Productions is based in Greytown, New Zealand.
They went out of business a while ago but started up again with a more limited range, mainly around Napoleonics and Civilian series. I am not sure if the Crimean series is still in production.

Fantastic figures with beautiful painting, real works of art, but then I'm biased as I collect them.

Hi
I ordered several sets in January this year - and got them this week. So Imperial is still operating and plodding along, so to speak.
I don't mind the wait, as the figures are always so worthwhile.
I ordered by email - and they called me when the sets were ready.
Heres a photo of the 2nd Dragoon Guards - I really like this set also.

These are really lovely, but when it comes to Imperial I am always suspect, as they are my all time favourites.:wink2:. The Crimean series is still part of their present catalog, although some sets have been retired. Thanks for posting these!

they are just so refined. there is nothing one can do to make the figure any better than they are. thats the mark of perfection.

Just picked up some magnificent Cameron Highlanders - HS01. On parade next to my HS02 Highlanders in action. I've posted the piper and drummer side by side for interest.

Those are some realy nice sets, the thin red line is one of my favourites . The HS sets took me ages to track down but where well worth the wait . I remeber seeing the HS1 in Imperials window when they first closed down [should have grabbed it then] but when they re opened they where not making those sets anymore so ended up getting mine from the US after a long search .

Has anyone figured out the best way to display the rearing horses in such a way as to avoid the horses "kneeling"? I hear this is a bit of a problem with the weight balance on the design of the earlier rearing horses causing them to gradually sink forward under their own weight.

I was thinking a small perspex tube to give support under the breastbone. Any ideas?

The chap I bought my HS1set from had inserted a pin underneath the horse .
[not what I would recomend mind you ] .It was not a problem I was not aware of
to be honest , I have a couple of other rearing imperial horses and have not
had any issues at this point . [possibly a different mix of metals used ?]

Spectacular! Thanks for posting.
Besides Imperial you lucky New Zealanders also have Soldiers of the World almost next door (related stuff really, it not a good relation...). You could argue that between these 2 you find the best glossy toy soldiers ever made (IMHO). Imperial are my all time favourites, that's for sure. Long live Greytown!

To compare the quality of the magnificent Imperial Productions figures to those of SOTW is the rarest and most extreme form of blasphemy!

For shame!

Hi Drum, didn't mean to offend anyone:redface2:, and indeed I do prefer Imperial to any others, but in my view SOW are some of the best glossy figures around. Imperial, on the other hand are the best. IMHO.

No sweat Paolo, just joshing you. I know you to be a long time Imperial devotee.

I purchased a couple of those SOTW sets, just to check them out. Since I really have only our Imperials with which to compare, I suspect my negative impressions of the quality of those sets is not a fair contest.

Ever since this thread began, I have been trying to decide on MY favorite Imperial Productions set... man, I just can't do it. Every time I think I have one figured, I look at another contender and then I am back to undecided. I may have to submit a top ten list... or maybe a top 100.

Cheers,
D
