Hey all,

I created a facebook page for my grandfathers body of work over the weekend.

Over 200 pieces are photographed and described in the photos section - a fraction of the actual collection.

The page is open to the public. If you like the work then please become a fan and let other people know about the page... I am trying to get his work seen by the masses because it really does deserve a good looking at.

Thanks!

You must be proud of the art work your Grandfather made. The work is done in watercolors, oils and pencil. The art portrays a period of time when there was no TV, computers or other things that keep people more isolated now days. The street and transportation pictures are great. He had a good eye on everyday life. Did he ever do cartoons or jokes for magazines? Some of his work reminds me of early New Yorker magazine. Thanks for posting. John

Understanding where he came from - the poverty and the horrible things that happened when he was a kid, yeah, he was a self made man in every way. Fearless in many ways and just never discouraged from doing what he wanted to do.

No, he didn't do cartoons but he was of that time and he did a huge amount of commercial work.

This is the link to that gallery:

The New Yorker is a publication of its time and it still holds a certain element of that "style". My grandfather, working in the 1930's, absorbed that into his style.

Anyways, thanks much for checking his page out. I wish he would allowed me to do this within his lifetime but he didn;t really think people would be interested. I wish I could have proved him wrong back then. But, there's no time like the present I suppose.
