Picked up my latest T Gunn Warbird today, the Dornier Do17/Do 215. 1./NJG 2 Based at Gilze-Rijen, The Netherlands, 1940-41. I./NJG 2's initial role was unlike the other units of the Luftwaffe night fighter arm; as a Fernnachtjagd Gruppe they were tasked with long-range intruder missions over the UK, disrupting night flying training and harassing the returning Royal Air Force (RAF) bombers over their own airfields.
I asked them to make one for me and the results are excellent. The pictures, through my poor photography, do not do the aircraft justice.
I think it looks great in the night black camo, also have the Lysander in SOE livery, all Black. I have a 'thing' for these aircraft of the night and I am close to getting T Gunn to make me a Black Beaufighter, they have made one before, just search the forum. Seeing it I can see why the aircraft was referred to as ‘Whispering Death’.
Thomas Gunn actually made two identical Dornier Do17/Do 215 Night Fighters, Do17/Do 215. NJG 2 Based at Gilze-Rijen, The Netherlands, 1940-41, so if anyone else wants one, I suggest contacting Thomas Gunn, be quick, as there is only 1 left.
