Yes, you've all asked for it, and now you can never say that we don't listen! We had request after request for a kneeling firing and a kneeling loading figure to compliment our already expansive coverage of the British 1st Foot Guards at Waterloo. So here is your chance to add to your squares with the new poses. NAP0169 British Guard Grenadier Kneeling Firing and NAP0170 British Guard Grenadier Kneeling Loading are now available for pre-order with a ship date of early-mid August. Just a small piece of further evidence that we love our Napoleonic customers every bit as much as we did before we started producing WWII figures! ;)

Brilliant - in'nt they?
I must admit I've been tempted to begin building a square for a while now....

You should go far it Harry. I can assure you they have utility beyond the square as well.;) I hope to show some of this when I reach the right critical mass.:D

Using a mirror for background will cut your financial investment in half ...

Matt-
Looks great! The two will definately be joining the ranks as soon as they are availible. Thanks for being open to all our requests.

Noah

Just imagine what we can do with all these lads now. A square is only the beginning.:D:cool:

Have any of you guys considered using the new Hougoumont release by JG Miniatures with the British Guards?

I still think the British Guards are just incredible Matt.

Oh yes I have definitely considered it but it is a "tres cher"; especially with the expected additional FL British expected "some time".;) No question they would look great with it but I may have to settle for some more modest terrain features for a while. Maybe if the economy ever turns around.

Yes, First Legion's figures with JG Miniatures dio pieces would make an amazing display. However, I bet First Legion themselves will have some western European buildings out in the future. Maybe not Hougoumont itself, but I wouldn't be suprised to see some buildings that would be perfect for a small village. Perhaps Plancenoit, for example? Perfect for the upcoming Prussians and the already released Guard Chasseurs.

Does anyone else have to look up the word 'chasseurs' everytime they want to spell it?

I bet you are right on the village buildings. Certainly we have the Prussian troops for that storming the village painting, I feel sure we will get the buildings.

I had to look it up several times but I am getting better with Chasseurs.;)

Chasseurs, Cuirassiers, Voltigeurs,..... Couldn't the French just stick to English;)? Whatever you call them, I look forward to each release.
I am dreading the Russian releases though, and checking the spelling to find the history on each unit!!

I've just picked myself off the floor and had to pour myself a suitably large slurp of Chivas Regal.
I thought April 1st was gone several months ago? Evidently not, because US$1,780 for what amounts to yet another "big boy's doll's house" just has to be a joke...!!!

I don't mind paying something like up to 200 bucks for scenics or anything else that I think might enhance a figure display, but as far as I'm concerned, that amount of cash is entering the realms of fantasy - if not insanity.
No disrespect meant towards anyone who's rich enough to buy the thing - that's got nothing to do with me and good luck. But common sense tells me that if I was ever to turn up on my wife's doorstep with something costing that kind of money and the price was ever discovered, my Missus would demand the men in the white coats throw me into a padded cell and chuck the key away for the rest of my natural - and that would only be after I finally got out of traction.

I have to ask myself the question quite seriously more and more often these days; do we encourage each other to enter into these feeding frenzies of discussing items that I would suggest only a very, very, select few would genuinely consider buying?
I apologies in advance to any collector who is in fact going to purchase the thing, but I honestly can't understand it. Not when around the same amount of cash would cover obtaining a complete set of FL Old Guard Chasseurs, with some multiples - or finance a pretty fair sized FL British Square.

Please excuse me while I go get myself a re-fill of Scotland's best.

Regards in Complete and Utter Amazement - and DISBELIEF.

LOL, actually it is the French who changed English as we know it, well before the little corporal's time.:D At least the French endings are pretty consistent, eur and ier. And then of course we have the aud endings, as in Crapaud.:D Vive la Sharpe.

Or a fair herd of Hussars; I am still wondering how you got that one past the Misses.;)

You of course have a point as to where the scenery overwhelms the figures and yes this scenery would put a rather substantial dent in most of our figure budgets. Still it is rather amazing; maybe a garden wall of so.:D

To answer your question, I have no doubt we do; and you thought TF was simply benevolent in sponsoring this forum;):D

I will have one for part of my OTSN room display, it will look superb with the British and French figures.

Well, I'm VERY careful to keep the true prices as "my little secret".
As for the final comment....HA-HA....Nice try though.
:p:p....:):)

Re: NAP0169-NAP0170 New British Guards Figures

I got my first order of the kneeling firing and a kneeling loading British 1st Foot Guards today and they are even better than these pictures. They arrived in perfect condition and are even better than the original Guards with noticably sturdier weapons. This is not only a great addition but a great sign of the subtle but important improvements First Legion continues to make to its newer releases. Thanks Matt, for doing these and for doing them so well.

If you have the Guards you need these. They are great for the square, the line and for squirmishing. Very well done indeed.:D:cool:

Just got mine on Monday and I would agree they are even better than the original series. I noticed the shako plate on these two has more detail and the faces are an improvement as well. Not that the original ones were anything to sneeze at! It was the original British Guards that got me on this road.
