The Year of the French rolls on in full stride with our latest addition to our ever expanding Napoleon's Europe product range! The French soldiers made war all over the continent of Europe against all major powers of the age and it was the line infantry who made up the backbone and striking power of the Grande Armee. Unlike our previous French Infantry releases, this regiment represents a few first for us. It is the first regiment we've done specifically for the 1815 campaign in their short-waisted Bardin coats. In addition, it is of course the first time we've covered French Light Infantry with our previous infantry releases being line infantry or guard units. Light infantry had the same six company organization as the line except that Light infantry center companies were Chasseurs and the elite companies were Carabiniers (instead of Grenadiers) and Voltigeurs. Unlike line infantry, light infantry received extra training and could deploy in its entirety as skirmishers or remain in close order formation. This is no doubt why Jerome Bonaparte's division which contained an extremely high proportion of Light Infantry was deployed opposite the Hougoumont woods at the Battle of Waterloo where their training as skirmishers would serve them well. These long awaited figures will be shipping to customers worldwide in late October 2012!!!

My partner pointed out to me (and a bit horrified he was!) that when we initially showed the photos of NAP0375, the figure was inadvertantly leaning way too far backwards nearly defying gravity. That has been corrected now and since the images link to our website, the images below are now correct except for the diorama style images which still shows him in "lean back jack" mode. This is what the figure correctly looks like:

In addition, we did want to show that figure NAP0374 is actually a purposely slightly overweight figure with some extra scrounged goods in his pack! See image below:
