Just wondering if artillery during the napoleonic wars always had their artillery in open field or if they used earth works around them ever such as the civil war. I really like the Build A Rama gun emplacement. I'm not sure if this was done?

Have a look...what are your thoughts? This would be used for ARTILLERY only not infantry!!

I may have just answered my own question I just read that earthworks were used for a fixed defended position but not in an open battle field. Does anyone have information to the contrary?

Cheers

What about you Old Guard or any other Napoleonic collector?

yes they did use earth works. check out the lines of torres the british made in the peninsular war and the great redoubt at borodino the russains made.
