Julie put some pieces up for consignment that we have not been able to ID.

There appears to be a wide array of Napoleonic foot and mounted figures. They come in wooden boxes (we assume to be original to the pieces):

There do not appear to be markings on the bases (though the mounted figures have wooden bases):

Any idea on a maker...or might they be home cast?

Hi, Padre,

The mounted figures and four of the five foot figures are all King-White/Reeves.

The fifth foot figure, carrying the color, I don't know.

I don't know but I don't think the boxes are original. I have only seen stiff cardboard boxes or clear plastic (hard acrylic) with the mounted Reeves figures, and cardboard boxes, plastic clamshell boxes or vacuformed shell packs, for the foot figures. But I may certainly be mistaken about them; I've just never seen them.

Hope that helps, prosit!

An addendum...you may see those Reeves figures as homecasts--these aren't--because they were copied and molds made available to the hobbyist. Castings, Inc. carries molds for each one of those figures you have, including the horses. I had them, but found the quality of the castings wasn't that great. The detail was too soft, so I gave them to a friend of mine.

One more addendum...I just took a look at the page you linked, and all of those figures are King-White/Reeves, except, as I mentioned before, the figure with the color. Where did you get them? Was it from an estate?

Also, I have a copy of the King-White catalog and I can get you the designations. Your 16-C, 8-C, 7-C and 6-C, for example, are British cavalry, I'm pretty sure.

That is, if Tom D doesn't have the info close at hand :)

Prost!

A couple of those poses remind me of K & C glossy Naps, from the mid 90s. Suppose they got them from King White.

Could be, Brad. I've always thought that there may have been some kind of connection between King-White and K&C, since KW was still in operation when Andy started up, and since there are similarities in style, the so-called "Chinese Style", between the two lines. Even if they just originated with some of the same sculptors and painters. I've thought, too, that there may have been a connection of some kind between KW and Frontline, for the same reasons. I don't recall if we've ever discussed it with Andy, though.

Prost!
