Here's one for the Napoleonic collectors who tend to appear on the K&C threads so this is why I am posting it here. I just ran acorss the following set from Askari Miniatures of Spanish Guerilla Monks during the Peninsular Campaign. Any of you know of these forces? Perhaps, it might be a future subject for K&C. I would like to see the Fields of Battle series extended beyond WWII and Dunkirk to topics from other eras such as the Peninsular campaign, for example.

My memory is a little fuzzy. But Saragossa Spain was laid siege to at two different points. The entire population including women , children and yes the Holymen fought a vicious " war of the knife". Every building was turned into a fortress including the cathedral. Theres a famous painting of French Light Infantry in a wild Melee with Monks and civilians in front of a Statue Of MARY with the cathedral in the background.
A very nasty affair. No quarter .A Stalingrad in Spain 130 years earlier.

The Figures are interesting. Are there any other civilian type defenders?

This is the only set they show on the Askari site. They were sculpted by Tony Aldrich. The wargamers often have a greater variety of subjects/figures to choose from. Thank you for putting these figures in context for me. They were unusual to say the least. Maybe Del Prado will do a monk in their Napoleonic series.
